I have been procuring live plants and Christmas trees here for about 34 years! Kingsdene is a family tradition for us. My Dad stopped being in one place in 1996. Now my son and I can feel his presence when we come shopping for a fresh Christmas tree each year right after Thanksgiving. Then we keep its base in water until it comes inside to be a celebration of trees for Christmas.
Typically, it stays soft and fragrant until the end of January, at which time I cut all the branches into 6-8 in pieces which I use to start fires all year. Also, I pack a cardboard box with the smaller pieces and loose needles and store it in the truck to freshen up the cab and remind me to smile.

I am in charge of our storefront landscape. I had tried multiple ideas and Cindy helped me decide on a certain topiary tree. She allowed me to take one and try it out in the container which was quite large and not easily portable.. It was perfect ! I returned for a second one and was pleasantly greeted and accommodated by Cindy who helped me navigate the billing system in a professional , customer service oriented way, for the purchase to be finalized. She is a treasure who makes the experience at Kingsdene feel like family. I will always use this nursery as my first stop.

I love to buy Christmas trees here for years. No crowds, reasonably priced, good choices, friendly staff.

A great place for any live plant needs you have. I find amazing varieties and healthy plants there every year. The staff are great about knowing when things come in and should be planted. I highly recommend checking them out!

Wow my first visit to Kingsdene -I was impressed !!! Such a nice place with wonderful folks. A lady named Jane helped me and was very knowledgeable. I felt really good about the experience !

This is a lovely place nearly to Monkton on York Rd. Its small quaint but has all the essentials. I went by today was so glad to go today and get exactly what I was looking for. Lots of variety. Strong large plants!

Kingsdene is abundant with pleasant surprises* each year.
This year we bought 5 rose bushes 3 or 5 gallons each--all with blooms and two weeks later reblooming**
and seven fruit trees (in 7 gallon tubs!) from which we will, indeed, have fruit this year.summer.

What I want to review is one of my Kingsdene Surprises which involved the delivery of mulch and Bob the deliverer. I had ordered the natural shredded mulch and it was delivered with care. Between the time of delivery and this week we had buckets of rain for days in a row. The water darkened the mulch to nearly black. One of my helpers had concerns with the "black" mulch and would only spread it with gloves on.

I called Kingsdene and spoke with Shirley, who I'd already spoken with about a number of interests including the (possibly mistaken) order of mulch.

She might have been difficult--mulch already delivered etc. But of course -- you're getting the drift -- she was quite helpful and said Bob -- who I'd already been told was a great guy--would give me a call.
He called and said he'd come over to take a look. One look and we both agreed the mulch is in fact the one I ordered -- natural shredded. He also brought me a sample of black dyed mulch for comparison (big difference to the brown that I ordered). Bob observed that the brown might look black when soaked. That was the answer. And guess what? *he did not make me feel bad for making a mistake and these days that is indeed a very nice surprise.

And last but not least, I am a very careful shopper for plants. we have garden the size of my dreams and it can be expensive to get a bunch of rose bushes to populate a blank spot. I have no shame in admitting that a lot of my plants have come from the discard racks of garden centers. the smaller the plant the harder it is to take care of. Economy has its shortcomings.

So, here's what I have learned --1. be patient with your garden. 2. always buy the largest healthiest plant you can afford.

The folks of Kingsdene have patience for you as your garden matures and its needs change over time. And their plants are uniformly healthier and bigger and more reasonably priced than the bargain places. Really.

Single-handedly one of the BEST nurseries around. Jason is an expert and delivers nothing but the best quality plants you can find anywhere. I will gladly and happily spend my money here for superior quality plants.

I just got a Green Stalk and the helpful lady at Kingsdene helped me find just the right herbs and flowers to put in the planters. I highly recommend Kingsdene!

Wow. This place is amazing. My wife and I were looking for a dwarf Hinoki cypress and some small shrubs to replace some old ones. The dwarf Hinoki is the centerpiece of our front yard. We could not find one anywhere, and then found a couple in poor condition. Kingsdene Nursery had a whole row of beautiful specimens as well as a large variety of other interesting shrubs to complete our search. Where there, we bought our annuals, all of which were very healthy. I never have seen such a variety of plants, all in perfect condition, in neat and orderly arrangements. The staff is very helpful and explained just how the plants would grow and mature. Well worth the drive from Howard County. We have been telling everyone about our find.

My first visit to this nursery and garden center was GREAT! I opted to go here instead of my usual home depot in order to support a local small business and I'm glad I did! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The entire staff was super friendly and welcoming! As soon as I arrived I was greeted and given some information. They have a huge selection of beautiful flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees. They have organic soils by the bag. There's an outdoor checkout or an indoor checkout stocked with other goodies like outdoor decor items. I think the prices are reasonable and I don't mind paying for quality! One person loaded my car with the bags of soil and the other helped me load up the flowers and then kindly took my wagon back for me.

Absolutely one of the best nurseries around. Excellent choices of specimen trees and shrubs. Wonderful plant selection all around!

Amazing selection of perennial flowers and vegetables for my full Sun garden. Everyone was very helpful!! Beautiful drive up there!

I visited this charming nursery and gift shop for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Although not large (bigger isn’t always better) they had a nice variety of houseplants and garden related supplies. The houseplants were very healthy and looked very well cared for. Not a lot in the outdoor area yet but I was told trucks will be arriving almost daily with trees and the like. I did purchase Hellebores and they were gorgeous. So happy Kingsdene was recommended to me! It will be my “go to” garden center from now on. Highly recommend Kingsdene!

I was looking for liatris and cone flowers and could not find them anywhere until I stumbled upon this place. I looked for nurseries that were near reisterstown and this place came up. The drive to this place was so pleasant, it was surrounded by miles and miles of farm land and beautiful homes. It had a very small town vibe to it. I didn't get any data service in this area.

They had a nice variety of cone flowers. Prices seem to be decent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They had perennial hibiscuses, very healthy looking hydrangea varieties, lavenders, clematis, elephant ear plants and a good collection of other sun and shady perennials along with annuals. Found the most pretty looking sedum plant, forgot to buy it though. All plants looked healthy. They were selling proven winners brand too.

This place is the absolute best nursery around. Earlier this year we had a large landscaping project in our backyard and we wanted to do it ourselves. We went to some other nurseries near by, but what makes Kingsdene stand out is their customer service. We were always greeted by very friendly people that were knowledgeable about their products. They spent time with us to walk through the nursery and make recommendations about what would work for our project. We didn't find that anywhere else, which is why we kept coming back. They also back most of their products for a year, which you won't find anywhere else. We definitely recommend them to everyone/anyone.

Fantastic nursery and gift shop. Plants always look healthy and well-cared for. Staff is great, very knowledgeable and whenever I have been there they were always patient in answering my questions. Nice selection of vegetable plants and annuals. The gift shop is adorable! Lots of unique items that are always displayed very well. My favorite place to shop for all of my gardening needs!

A wonderful nursery full of beautiful and hearty plants of all sorts, and a sweet little gift shop, to boot. We popped in late this Spring and connected with Vicki, whose knowledge is incredible, and only outpaced by her obvious enjoyment in helping people. She helped us buy the perfect hanging baskets, told us the smart way to take care of them, and cheered us on as we left to take them home! Today, we went back for Fall flowers and she did it again. Really, the whole staff is awesome, helpful, and oh-so kind. You cannot go wrong here.

And their prices are terrific. For me, not the best reason to go, but the cherry on top of the otherwise already delicious experience.

I have used this nursery for years and have always been satisfied with their plants and trees. Today, Dylan helped me purchase trees to flank the stairs in the front of the house. He explained why we should or shouldn’t choose certain varieties. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Great garden center!

I noticed they listed the Orangeola Japanese Maple on their website. I emailed them and they got back to me almost immediately that they had two in stock. I drove up there and they pointed me right to them, helped get one out of the ground, and helped put it in my car. The root ball was bursting out of the pot, unlike the mail order guys who put a tiny root ball in a huge pot. A truly pleasant experience. I wish I could have stayed longer but the electric signs were threatening a funeral procession later in the day. I guess I'll have to go back.... The only negative is that they are way out in the boonies, at least from where i live.

The Gardeners Gold brand potting soil and Soil Conditioner is the best quality I have found. They also offer a one year warranty on the shrubs.

Jonas and Ellie were super helpful and knowledgeable. Great selection. We were looking for shrubs and trees for privacy in our shaded backyard. They gave us plenty of options. We will definitely be coming back here for years to come!

I have been with Kingsdene Nursery for several years and continue to be pleased with their excellent service. In particular, Jan Pickle is a wonderful treasure. He listens, remembers and always follows through with his crew. I was so impressed that he came in person a week later to check on my satisfaction with the completed job. My husband and I am very, very pleased.

I love to shop local, and this is a great place for that! So many unusual and common annuals and perennials! Not to mention a fantastic selection of trees and shrubs. Kingsdene stands by their warranty as well! The gift shop has many interesting items for home and garden, great hostess gifts too! I have only one complaint - please stay open later a couple evenings! I drive by after work every day, only to find you've just closed! I can't always get there on the weekend.

Very knowledgeable and friendly employees. An "all around" garden center. I have yet to not find what I'm looking for. Very well kept & shrubs,trees,perennials. Lots of varieties & many sizes. Be sure to go inside for bird feeders, houses and gifts. In the winter, a wonderful place to find unique Christmas decor & gifts. One stop shopping!
